Sharpening Steels
The sharpening steel is indispensable used in conjunction with Wicked Edge. Once you have sharpened your knife, you use the steel to 'turn' the burr to the precise angle you prefer for scraping.  You continue to use the steel to restore your edge until you need to re-sharpen.

Combination Cut

A great steel to 'rough-up' the edge and extend the life of your edge. After using this, you use a refined steel to finish the edge - or use for coarse work (i.e. initial scraping).

The Hocktooks Burnishing Rod is a great 'budget' steel. At only $18, it represents a excellent value for students. It is also a great portable steel for quick touch-ups to carry with you to rehearsals. It does not come with a handle. The Nicholson handle shown below is highly recommended.
